This Charitable Trust was founded in the memory of our beloved grand mother Smt.Sreerengayammal, who has passed away on 31st December 2002, has left us with a greater aim in life that we are trying to fulfill in a small way.
SRMECT (Sreerengayammal memorial educational and charitable trust) is a registered non-profit, non-government organization established under the Chartable Trust Act registered vide Reg. No. 1239/2008. Young, dynamic managing trustees with a group of volunteers are dedicated to involve in non-profit activities in the area of education, health, environment and human services by providing a support system to ensure that increase in literacy rate and decrease in hunger deaths & suicides irrespective of caste, creed, race, region and religion. The registered office of the trust is situated at PHOTONICS,1-A, Sankari main road, Dadagappatti, Near Periyar Arch,Salem - 636 006,Tamilnadu,India. |

| Educational activities |
| As Mahatma Gandhi once said, "No nation can ever make progress without the young generation having proper education", we believe that it is our responsibility to help those children who are willing to study but don't have enough resources to have a proper education, even at the school level. It is one of our primary tasks to enable the economically incapable students to carry on their education without financial troubles. For that, we distribute books, notebooks and other education related materials to such students. We also encourage the students by conducting essay, elocution and drawing competitions and other such activities. Apart from this, we also help the needy students with essential grains and medicines, as and when required. |

In addition to the educational and medical help and support, we also understand our social responsibility in general. We distribute essential grains to the economically incapable families. We also involve ourselves in various environmental activities.

Objectives

To establish, promote, strengthen, maintain educational institutions, charitable health care centers/dispensaries, and other establishments for relief and help to the poor, infirm and otherwise needy people.

To award Memorial Scholarships, stipends and prizes, to needy yet meritorious students with a view to helping them in prosecuting their studies in schools, colleges and technical institutions.

To Conduct essay, elocution and drawing competitions for students of high schools of salem, every year.

Distribution of education related materials and essential commodities to children of orphan homes.

Various health checkup programmes along with distribution of necessary medicines in schools, co-operative societies and other organisations.

To start Educational Institutions to establish Schools, Colleges, Polytechnics Management and Science College, Pharmacy Medical, Dental and Paramedical, Technical, Non Technical Colleges and job oriented courses.

To introduce any possible improvement in the system of education in its institutions from time to time.

To undertake and carry out any step calculated to promote the cause of education.

| We receive plenty of genuine heart melting requests for help, but we are only able to support a few of them, as our resources are limited.
